  1. Learn about available resources.

    • Area Agency on Aging
    • Alzheimer’s Association
    • Adult Day Health
    • Meals on Wheels
    • Private Case Management agencies
  2. Make the home secure and safe.
    • Bathroom safety equipment-grab bars, bath chair, handheld shower, toilet riser
    • Mobility aids-cane, walker, wheelchair, wheelchair ramp, rails by stairs
    • Evaluate safe usage of oven/stove/heaters
    • Remove throw rugs, cords, and clutter that could contribute to a fall
    • Emergency Alert Response System
  3. In addition to frequent phone contact with your loved one, maintain contact with a trusted person who can keep you informed of any concern.
